/signed. But I must say, they shouldn't be too hard to get. Maybe like purples in WOW but not reds or golds.

I've never done UW, FoW or any elite missions, just the storylines, but it would still be fair to open it up to this type of players.

I'm thinking the kind of bosses they could drop off are Rotscale, The Lich, Shiro, Abbadon, Zhu Hanuku, Kuuna, Urgoz, The Deep Boss, Malyx, Glint, Markis.

So really, end mission bosses/end game bosses but not just normal glowy ones. That way players could get them whilst doing PvE and not have to spend 5 hours playing The Deep to even have a 1/12 chance of getting one. Frankly, playing for 5 hours solid is bad for your health, and... don't you have a life that interferes with your gaming?

but yes, despite all I've said

You have endgame Prophecy areas being cleared with three players, and you want to add more powerful items? What the hell? Just like greens, practically everyone will have them eventually and then the bar for PvE is lowered further.
Quote:
Higher damage or statted weapons should never be factored in. Then those will become 'max', and in another chapter people will call for more buffs. Not to mention every fragment of the pve economy will be practically sodomized by their introduction. Players already have easy access to max gear.

Collectable loot is the heart and soul of any PvE, or any RPG for that matter. I find it dissapoinitng that for the rest of my GW life, I will only see things like 3/1, 20/20, 20% Chance, Crippling, Fiery etc etc..ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz
Stats is not what you should look after, why dont you go and look for that perfect zodiac shield? or that perfect magmas shield? or that req 9 elemental sword?
------

on the other hand you are just requesting to add green items to the lich and glint.

Play WoW if you love unique weapons and gear. In gw, skills > gear.

I would rather have more mods be class specific.

20% longer durations on Preperations
20% longer duration on stances
+2(?) Health regeneration
33% LESS Duration on Conditions (For other weapons beside Shields)
40% To Attunements
20% longer for your hexes
10% more healing
20% longer duration for shouts+chants

And I know these need to be balanced but they are ideas

Old Might and Magic used to have rare weapons that had great benefits but terrible penalties. They had their place and many of them were cool to have (I think they were called archaic weapons or somesuch).

I remember when green = rare in GW. That's definitely not the case now (apart from DoA for the time being).

I like the idea of rare drops (e.g. chance in a thousand or more from a boss)

I also like the idea of these drops being automatically customised to the person they drop for. They would just be too valuable on the market if they were sellable.

I don't like the idea that they would just drop from endgame bosses or bosses in the elite areas. All players, even those who can't play for 4+ hours at a time should have a chance).

The items shouldn't be farmable - omg this would have to be the first time I've ever supported an anti-farm code.

Great idea and good on you for bringing your rez sig.

Make them like Mallyx items - in the sense that you purely do not farm for it, but must actually WORK for it. Of course, it'll be much easier than Mallyx. Please do not tell me that people with certain professions aren't wanted, I didn't say it IS Mallyx, I said it's the same concept as Mallyx.

Or, (oh well I know I'm going to get flamed for this) rip an idea from RuneScape - Treasure Trails (TT).

For those who don't know what TT is, you would kill a monster and there's a slight chance of getting a "clue". Read the clue and it gives you hints on where to go. Once you get to that spot, you might get 2 or 3 more clues in the same fasion. Then at the end of it all, you'd find a chest that contains an item.

To relate it to Guild Wars, I guess a level 1 Stormseed Jacinda would drop a level 1 clue, because of it's low level. There would be level 1,2,3,4 clues. Monster levels found in Ascalon, Shing Jea Island, Istan would be level 1 clues. Kourna levels would be 2. Vabbi - 3 and Desolation+ level 4.

Of course, the higher the clue, the harder it is, but the better the reward.

Now lets say you're at Venta Cemetery. One of those Kournan Priests drops a level 2 clue, which your party reserves for ____. You do the clue and it says "blah blah blah". You then realize that's in the Desolation, but you're not there yet. I think this strives to make players complete campaigns.

There could be level 5 clues from high end elite missions, where the clues make you travel from Cantha to Elona to Tyria to Cantha and finally, Elona.

Although...maybe not the color red. I think it would be sort of hard to read, because it's a dark color on a black backround (like purples). Maybe...hmm...I'm not sure :/ GW basically has all the colors lol

Oh, and my last piece of insight: Let players show off their unique items(reds, not green) in town! You may think it's not fair, but that player deserves it for following that level 5 clue for Victo's Chestpiece!

EDIT: After all that, I forgot to sign!

As i'm sure a lot of people have mentionned,

they would become the new max, leading to more powerful being implemented in the next game. Making earlier games ridiculously easy and would encourage people to grind for their stuff. While I would not mind that,(not-so-)God-like-ANet is going the oposite direction (though it would not be the first time they break what they anounced). And then, a lot of people would tell ANet to quit imitating WoW.

On the other hand, preparation/stances/shouts-mods would really be fun. Someone mentionned this but... class specific mod : attunements, and why stop there -> lotus mods (energy regenerating Assass attacks) : more energy from "lotus-attacks", ceremonial mods (the rit urns), chants mod (paragon, i'm running out of names), Order mods (necro, I'm sure there is an adjective related to order). They wouldn't be too restrictive since anyone can change to /elem or /P.

Says the anti-progress brigade. Before combustion was steam and somebody would have said exactly the same thing.

The suggestions here don't mention anything about going to internal combustion engines.

They talk about putting a bigger boiler on the same old steam machine.

This would pretty much be the best idea ever. Just so long as the items stay very, very rare and cannot be used in pvp. I wished for something almost identical when I got that bow from a quest in tyria that had -20% poison as its inherent effect, and thought why couldn't they actually do things like this in a thought out way. And this idea seems to work
